Helloooo adventurers!
Whether you stumbled here from a Pinterest deep dive or you've been ridin' with me for a hot minute, I figured it was about time we had a proper introduction.
You know the drill: roll one up, and let's talk about ya girl!
The comics situation
I will not be taking questions about how many unread issues I have. What I will tell you is that when I'm stuck on writing a plot hook or too high to create an NPC from scratch, I turn to comics for A LOT of my inspiration. Also, my husband has a subscription box at DrawnTo Comics (our favorite local comics/collectibles shop) so my selection is never limited 🤓
COMIC PICKS : Ghosted, Eight Billion Genies, Curse Words, Saga, Something is Killing the Children, The Nice House on the Left, I Hate This Place, Hallow's Eve, What's the Furthest Place from Here, Scarlet Witch (Vol. 3), The Wicked + the Divine, Damn Them All, Killadelphia
GENRES : mostly supernatural, horror and sci-fi (and usually Image Comics), but sometimes I'll give the superhero comics a gander ...
The first comic I ever picked up was Saga, Vol 1 during Free Comic Book Day (from Rebel Base Comics in Charlotte, NC) and MY GAWD I fell hard for it. I was already a space opera kind of gal but the art, the dialogue, and characters really opened my eyes to what a great comic series looks like.
Sweet, sweet anime
Anime accounts for sooooo many of my own D&D characters and quite a bit of the dice sets that I've made.
ANIME PICKS : Dragon Ball Z (and more recently, Daima), The Apothecary Diaries, My Hero Academia, Naruto, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demonslayer (as if you couldn't guess), Black Clover, Gachiakuta, Hell's Paradise

Dragon Ball Super TCG Masters (yup, DBS nerd too)
Okay, so here's something you might not have known about me: I play the Dragon Ball Super Card Game Masters with my husband and our homie, and it has become a whole thing.
DECKS
My (recent) Decks : Bulla, Shopping With Dad Chi-Chi, Maiden Spirit SS Rosé Goku Black, Future of Dispair Great Ape Son Gohan, Saiyan Impulse SS Trunks, Envoy of Justice Returns Son Goku & Bulma, First Encounter Super Saiyans United (I looove this aggro-ass red deck)
Honestly, there is something so deeply satisfying about building a deck from scratch, finding a strategy that clicks, and then watching it absolutely demolish your opponent. And, before you ask, yes, my decks are a little aggro ... af 😎
Xbox ... yup, Game Pass has me in a chokehold
GAMES
The games I currently play and some faves that I've replayed a few times:
What Remains of Edith Finch, Firewatch, Gone Home, Tell Me Why, South of Midnight, Winter Burrow are the games I boot up when I want a really good emotional story. If a game can make me stop and just sit with what just happened, it literally has my whole heart.
Baldur’s Gate 3 needs no introduction, and Solasta: Crown of the Magister is my first D&D experience on a console (I also highly recommend this game to every TTRPG player who wants to actually play 5e mechanics in a video game). Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands and Borderlands 3 are in permanent rotation because sometimes you need a looter shooter with unhinged humor and missions. And Fable (both 1 and 2) holds a genuinely special place in my chaotic lil' heart. Classic.
Far Cry 5 and 6 are just an all around blast to play on the couch with my husband (of course, we have our tvs next to each other in the living room) ... what can I say? It brings me bliss 😂
Also, Marvel Rivals and Stardew Valley are currently taking up more of my time than I planned.

My blog is called The Heady Bard for a reason ... and it's exactly what it sounds like 🍃
Sometimes I smoke to spark some creativity and other times, it's just for a good, chill vibe.
